Phonetic at Assisi Suono Sacro Signum Festival 2024

On the 25th of July 2024, a subset of the Phonetic Orchestra performed at the Suono Sacro Signum Festival in Assisi, Italy. Tempted as a I was to perform, travelling such a distance only to almost immediately return home is ethically untenable. However, I was fortunate to contribute field recordings from Nyoongar Ballardong country, which I have been told, blended with a strange and beautiful sense of overlay against the sounds of crickets in the garden in which the performance took place. A sleep concert running from 10:30pm well into the early hours of the morning, this performance follows the Phonetic Orchestra’s ongoing practice of extreme durational performance, performing to audiences with varying degrees of sleep and wakefulness.
